At least they added a roll bar
Sunchaser dreams on a Civic budget.
The large bumper sticker says “Redneck” and I won’t disagree. You could still see into the hollow A-pillars and the windshield looked like a piece of plexiglass with nothing across the top.

Like a stuffed animal?

I was thinking something like a raccoon, but that works too, I guess.

I like your idea better. Raccoon or a Possum would be perfect.

Cars made outside the U.S. have to jump through hoops to prove they are safe yet once on the U.S. highway you can do anything you want to it, or not doing anything with it, including maintenance and general upkeep.

This car is absolutely not street legal here in the USA. My state has annual safety inspections to keep cars like this off of the road, and any highway officer paying attention would pull this car over.

I am so glad to hear that.
From what I hear and see over there on Jalopnik, OPPO, news, internet, etc... to an outsider it sounds like a free for all.
When I say what our cars in the U.K. and Europe have to go through each year the majority of Americans talk about how restrictive and how it’s too much government oversight. I for one am very glad for it.

Depends on the state, where I live anything over 25 years old or if you live outside Metro Atlanta is a free for all.

It does vary a bit from state to state, but at least here in PA, you’ll fail for any number of reasons including excessive tire treadwear, burned out indicator lights, or a cracked windshield. There is no way (short of fraud) that this homemade convertible is street legal. Some states don’t have inspections, which I agree is somewhat concerning.

Someone needs to tell this guy that the Del Slo exists and would get him that convertible Civic he always wanted.

But there’s no backseat in a Del Sol. This car had 3 guys in it. He needs the room for his entourage.

Glad to hear it.
Our inspections are called MOTs and are valid for one year (done on cars over three years old, the government wants to change it to five years but people say that would allow unsafe vehicles onto the road), without a valid MOT, you can’t get road tax or insurance to drive the car, which will see your car impounded or crushed.
